“My doctor really doesn’t want me to fight anymore,” Jake Paul says he might never step into the ring again after losing to Anthony Joshua.

Jake Paul has opened up about the chance that he might not step into the boxing ring again after suffering serious injuries in his knockout loss to Anthony Joshua.

Back in November, the boxing world was surprised when it was announced that YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul would face former two-time heavyweight champ Joshua the next month.

When they fought at the Kaseya Center in Miami, things went as expected. Paul spent six rounds trying to avoid Joshua, but was knocked out in the sixth round.

After the fight, it was revealed that Paul had some major injuries, including a double jaw fracture that will keep him out of action for months.

Now, Paul has shared that his doctor’s advice might mean he has to stop boxing for good. On the Ariel Helwani Show, he said, “Yeah, I’m getting new scans of my jaw soon. We’ll see what the doctors say. Can I even fight again? That’s definitely possible. It feels better now, but I still need clearance.”

When asked if he’s thinking about his future in boxing, he replied, “Yeah, for sure. It depends on how the bone heals. I also lost a tooth and might need an implant. Not sure how long that’ll take. I’ll just have to figure out what’s best.”

Helwani asked if Paul wonders if fighting is even worth it anymore, and Paul answered honestly, “Yeah, I’ve definitely had those thoughts. My doctor, Arman—big thanks to him—doesn’t want me to fight again.”

If Paul does retire, he’ll leave with a record of 12 wins and 2 losses, including wins over Mike Tyson, Nate Diaz, and Anderson Silva. His other loss came from Tommy Fury.

Meanwhile, Joshua is set to return to the ring on July 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, against Kristian Prenga before what’s expected to be a huge fight with British rival Tyson Fury later this year.
