Paddy Pimblett takes a fun jab on CBS Sports to try and get his manager to join Liverpool.

Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett has encouraged Luis Enrique to step down as Paris Saint-Germain’s coach and take on the exciting challenge of managing Liverpool.
Before tonight’s Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal, the UFC fighter shared his thoughts on who should replace Arne Slot as Liverpool’s head coach during an appearance on CBS Sports. Slot was let go on Saturday, just a year after leading Liverpool to their 20th league title.
Liverpool is expected to act quickly to name a new coach, with free agent Andoni Iraola reportedly the top choice after a strong three-year run at Bournemouth. In fact, football expert Fabrizio Romano says the club has already made up its mind. “The talks will move forward fast to get it done, but Liverpool’s decision is made,” he said. “Iraola will be the next manager.”
As a devoted Liverpool fan, Pimblett, however, wants Luis Enrique to leave PSG after the final and become Liverpool’s next head coach. Standing with CBS experts Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry, and Micah Richards, he made a lighthearted plea to the Spaniard, who hasn’t signed a new deal with PSG yet.
“I want Luis Enrique to win tonight and then step down as PSG manager because he’s already won the treble twice,” Pimblett said. “I want him to say, ‘I want a new challenge,’ because right now, we’re looking for one.”
After a playful “all the best” comment from Thierry Henry, the camera showed Enrique standing on the Puskas Arena touchline. Pimblett joked, “Get him over here and I’ll headlock him.”
On Saturday, Liverpool officially announced they had parted ways with Slot. Their statement said: “Liverpool FC confirms Arne Slot has left the club immediately, and the search for his replacement is underway.
“Arne joined in June 2024 and led us to our 20th league title in his first season. He also earned the LMA Manager of the Year award, took the team to the Carabao Cup final, and the Champions League last 16. In the 2025–26 season, he secured Champions League qualification again and reached the quarter-finals.”
Liverpool’s owners also shared a joint statement praising Slot’s contributions: “We’re grateful for everything Arne has done during his time here. His impact has been significant, and above all, successful.
“From day one, Arne showed he fully embraced the responsibility of leading the team. Winning the Premier League in his first year was incredible, especially as he faced many challenges last season.
“However, we believe it’s time for a change to keep moving forward. This decision was not made lightly. Arne will always have a special place in Liverpool’s history for delivering our 20th league title.
“He also showed great kindness and strength during one of the club’s hardest times after losing Diogo, which says a lot about him as a person.
“We wish Arne all the best in his future coaching career, confident he’ll continue to succeed. His legacy at Liverpool is secure and will be remembered for years to come.
“But we believe a fresh approach is needed for the team’s future direction. This is not a reflection on Arne’s talents or work, just a decision for the club’s growth.
“Arne leaves with our thanks, a Premier League title, and the knowledge he and his family are always welcome at Anfield.”
