Pep Guardiola was seen in tears during a heated argument with Kyle Walker in the new Amazon Prime video documentary.

A new documentary gives an inside look at Pep Guardiola’s last two seasons at Manchester City, showing a rare moment when the coach was moved to tears during a tough argument with Kyle Walker in the dressing room.

Many were surprised when Walker asked to leave City, the Premier League champions at the time, in January 2025. After seven successful years with the team, he wanted to play abroad. The defender, who played 319 times for City, went on a season-long loan to AC Milan. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, an advisor to City’s American owners, encouraged him to make the move.

When Walker arrived at Milan, he said telling Pep he wanted more playing time wasn’t easy. “It wasn’t a comfortable conversation because of the respect we have for each other and what we’ve done at City,” he said.

Now, a new four-part Amazon Prime Video documentary called ‘A Beautiful Obsession’ shares what happened before Walker left, including an intense clash with Guardiola. The argument happened after a 2-0 loss to Liverpool in December 2024, when Walker felt the manager was blaming him too much.

“You keep saying my name, every meeting,” Walker shouted. “Every single meeting it’s my name.”

Guardiola explained that Walker’s name came up because he was captain. Walker fired back, “You didn’t want me to be captain. I reacted because someone else made a mistake, but you bring my name into it.”

The former Barcelona boss got emotional and told the team, “If I’m a problem, just tell me. I won’t stay just for the money or to stay in the job.”

He added, “I extended my contract because I want to be with you, to fight alongside you. I don’t want you to think I’m running away. If captains and others feel there’s a problem, tell me. It won’t change the love I have for all of you. I just want to fight. I’m sorry.”

In another honest moment from December 2024, after a 2-0 loss to Juventus in the Champions League, Guardiola opened up about his divorce from his wife of 30 years, Cristina Serra, while talking about passion.

“Guys, I need to tell you something. I’m divorced from the most beautiful woman on the planet,” he shared.

“She’s my wife, my ex-wife. I love her deeply, but we lost the passion. For many reasons, the passion is gone. Do I love her? Yes. Does she love me? Yes. But the passion isn’t there.

“How do you play football? Do you play just to play, or because you have something inside? What’s passion? Whatever you do in life, do it with passion. I don’t want good players, I want players with passion.”
