Big moments are coming on the last day of the Premier League season, just before a new rule kicks in next year. Arsenal have already won the title with one game left, thanks to Manchester City’s draw with Bournemouth. They’ll lift the trophy for the first time in 22 years when they visit Crystal Palace on Sunday.

There’s still a lot to decide, though, like who will get the European spots and which team will be relegated—either West Ham or Spurs, depending on their final games. All the matches on the last day will start at the same time, making it a special event.

What makes this day even more historic is that it will be the last time we see gambling company logos on the front of Premier League shirts. Betting has been a big part of English football, especially the Premier League, since it began in 1992. But in April 2023, the league announced it will stop gambling sponsorship on main shirts to reduce gambling ads.

Back then, they said: “Premier League clubs have agreed to remove gambling sponsors from the front of shirts, becoming the first UK sports league to do this voluntarily to cut down on gambling ads. This follows talks with the government and a review of gambling laws. The Premier League is also working with other sports on a new code for responsible gambling sponsorship. The change will start after the 2025/26 season.”

This new rule begins with the 2026/27 season and only affects the front of shirts, not sleeves or stadium ads. Right now, 11 out of the 20 clubs have betting companies as their main shirt sponsors. Teams like Aston Villa, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Everton will need new sponsors next year.

Recently, The Guardian’s Matt Hughes said nine clubs haven’t secured new main shirt deals yet, and some might start next season without a sponsor. Bournemouth is the only club so far to confirm a replacement: their stadium sponsor, Vitality, will move to the front of their shirts. Brentford might have the job site Indeed as their new sponsor, since it’s been on their training gear.

These new deals probably won’t pay as much. However, Everton and Fulham could get bigger deals with the foreign exchange company CMC Markets, replacing Stake and SBOBet. The rest of the clubs with betting sponsors are still looking for new deals, but the market is expected to offer less money because of the upcoming ban on gambling ads.
