Rio Ferdinand criticizes Jamie Carragher’s career as their argument gets heated
Rio Ferdinand fired back in a pretty sharp way after his old rivalry with Jamie Carragher flared up again just before Manchester United’s 3–2 win over Liverpool on Sunday.
Before the match, Ferdinand shared a photo of himself celebrating a goal for United against Liverpool, with Carragher looking disappointed in the background. Ferdinand asked his followers to “Caption this.”
Carragher replied with a cheeky message, jokingly calling Ferdinand a “Scouse” and teasing him for making sure he was in the picture of a goal someone else scored. He also poked fun at Ferdinand hanging around post-match areas and getting his friends to film him.
Over the years, the relationship between these two former England teammates has gotten tense, with several back-and-forths between them.
Later on Sunday, Ferdinand responded to Carragher, saying his reply was “harsh” and took a jab at Carragher’s playing days. He explained that he just posted a celebration photo because he loves celebrating big moments in the game and didn’t understand why Carragher was so upset.
Ferdinand also shared some memories from their England days, like how Carragher used to carry his bag and boots, showing they had been close at one point. He admitted the rivalry can make emotions run high, especially after a big game like this, and that losing is never a nice feeling either.
Looking ahead, Liverpool will play Chelsea at home on May 9, while United take on Sunderland away the same day.
