Ryan Reynolds shares a message after Wrexham misses out on promotion to the Premier League

Wrexham didn’t make it into the Championship’s top six, so they won’t be able to compete for a spot in the Premier League this season.
Going into their last game against Middlesbrough, the Welsh team knew they had to win to reach the playoffs. A win would have secured their place in the top six.
But they only managed a 2-2 draw, which wasn’t enough. Meanwhile, Hull City beat Norwich City 2-1, moving just ahead of Wrexham on the final day and ending the hopes of everyone at the club.
The Red Dragons hoped for their fourth straight promotion, but now they’ll have to stay in the Championship for at least another year while they keep chasing their dream of reaching the Premier League.
Since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over in February 2021, they’ve transformed the club’s fortunes.
The Hollywood duo has helped Wrexham climb from the National League to the Championship in just five years—an amazing achievement.
Of course, it’s disappointing they couldn’t fight for a Premier League spot in the playoffs, especially since they had control over their own destiny before the last game.
Still, they can be proud of their season. Not many expected them to challenge for the playoffs, so there’s plenty of motivation to build on this success and make their Premier League dreams come true.
After the draw with Middlesbrough and missing out on promotion, Ryan Reynolds shared a message on social media.
He wrote on Instagram: “I am completely gutted by today’s result but incredibly proud of our season. We’ve come a long way in five years, and this was the best result in our 150+ year history. More to do. But for now we have so much to be proud of, Reds.”
Fans have seen their club gain worldwide attention and helped bring new life to their town, with lots of visitors coming to watch the team.
Most importantly, their performance on the field has improved a lot. Just a few years ago, when they were in the National League, they couldn’t have imagined they’d be this close to making it to the Premier League within five years.
