Surprise Premier League club shows interest in signing Jack Grealish, possibly taking over Sunderland’s move
A third Premier League club is now interested in signing Jack Grealish on loan.
With the September 1 transfer deadline coming up soon, Grealish’s future is still uncertain, even though he played for Manchester City in their Premier League opener against Bournemouth last weekend.
The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Everton, where he made a good impact by providing six assists and scoring two goals in 20 league games before his season was cut short due to a broken foot.
Grealish, who reportedly earns £300,000 a week, is still well-liked in Merseyside, but a return to Everton seems unlikely since they have already signed left-winger Tyrique George from Chelsea this summer.
On August 26, The Athletic shared that Sunderland have made an offer to take Grealish on loan. Their proposal would cover part of his salary and include a chance to make the move permanent when his City contract ends in 2027.
Sunderland is also interested in Marseille winger Igor Paixao as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of their Europa League campaign.
Manchester City appears open to letting Grealish leave this summer, and it’s not just Sunderland and Everton who want him.
TalkSPORT reports that Grealish’s former club, Aston Villa, also want to sign him on loan.
He joined Villa as a six-year-old, made his first-team debut at 18 in 2013, and grew into their star player, helping them get promoted to the Premier League in 2019. Two years later, he moved to Man City for £100 million and has since won three Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the FA Cup.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano updated fans on Grealish’s situation via his YouTube channel. He said, “My understanding is that two clubs are interested in Jack Grealish, Aston Villa or Everton. Let’s see, because this could become a massive surprise. Aston Villa are busy with different things, and then Everton are always thinking about Jack Grealish, but at the moment my understanding is that there is nothing advanced with Sunderland.”
