UEFA has banned a second club from Europe, an official statement says.

UEFA has announced that a second club will be banned from European competitions next season.

Last month, UEFA suspended Azerbaijani team PFK Turan Tovuz from the Conference League because seven of their players were involved in match-fixing, according to their country’s football federation (AFFA). The club said they plan to appeal the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to try to have the ban lifted.

Now, UEFA has revealed that Czech club MFK Karvina has also been banned from taking part in the Europa League next season. They earned their spot by winning the domestic cup, but were found guilty of trying to influence match outcomes and have been removed from the competition.

Because of this, there are some changes for Czech teams in Europe. UEFA said that on July 2, 2026, their Appeals Body ruled MFK Karvina ineligible to play in the 2026/27 Europa League due to involvement in match-fixing. Following this, the UEFA Emergency Panel adjusted which Czech clubs will take part in European competitions next season.

With MFK Karvina out, Viktoria Plzen will move up to the Europa League play-offs. Hradec Kralove will now enter the Europa League second qualifying round and face Norway’s Tromso. FK Jablonec will also face a new opponent, NK Varazdin, in the Conference League second qualifying round.

These changes show UEFA’s strong stance against match-fixing and their commitment to fair play across European football.
