UFC fighter Tim Means was arrested after an argument with his teenage daughter about chores reportedly turned physical. Means, who also teaches wrestling at Moriarty High School, is accused of head-butting his 17-year-old daughter in the nose and then punching her in the face during the disagreement.

The 42-year-old was taken into custody on Wednesday, April 22, and charged with child abuse, according to the Albuquerque Journal. Police from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office were called to his home in Tijeras around 10 p.m. on April 21.

His daughter called the police, saying they had been arguing about chores when he head-butted her. She also told officers that Means grabbed her by the neck, held her against a counter, and threw a potato at her face. When she tried to leave, he allegedly punched her on the right side of her face.

The official report mentioned visible marks on her neck, showing signs of strangling, blood from the head-butt, and red marks on her face from being hit.

Tim Means first joined the UFC in 2012 after turning pro in 2004. Known as “Dirty Bird,” he has a record of 33 wins, 17 losses, and 1 draw, with 15 wins and 14 losses in the UFC. He has faced well-known fighters like Mike Perry, Kevin Holland, Jorge Masvidal, Alex Morono, and Daniel Rodriguez.

Though still signed with the UFC, Means hasn’t fought since October 2024, when he lost to Court McGee at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City. He’s also had a professional boxing career, winning two out of three fights, but hasn’t boxed since 2011.
