The Yan Diomande transfer story gets more interesting as RB Leipzig makes a public statement about the Liverpool and PSG target.

RB Leipzig has made a public announcement about the future of their exciting £100 million-rated winger Yan Diomande, who has caught the attention of both Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.
Diomande is currently playing for Ivory Coast at the World Cup, helping his team reach the knockout stages. The 19-year-old has started all three matches and even set up a goal in their 2-0 win over Curacao, Ivory Coast’s second win in the tournament.
In his first Bundesliga season with Leipzig, Diomande scored 12 goals and made eight assists, quickly drawing interest from top European clubs. PSG and Liverpool are both keen to sign him this summer.
Liverpool recently secured Osasuna winger Victor Munoz, who will officially join them on July 1 after they activated his €40 million release clause. However, they are still looking to sign another winger, with Diomande reportedly their main target.
On Sunday, a new development emerged when The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that Diomande prefers to join PSG, the current Champions League winners.
Liverpool will also play in the Champions League next season after finishing fifth in the Premier League and have a new manager, Andoni Iraola, following Arne Slot’s departure.
Diomande hasn’t officially told Liverpool about his final choice yet, so there might still be hope for the club to pull off one of the most expensive Premier League signings ever.
But now, RB Leipzig themselves have spoken up. The club, known for developing young players and selling them for big fees—like they did with Erling Haaland at RB Salzburg—have surprised fans with their stance on Diomande’s future.
Leipzig’s sporting director Marcel Schafer has said that Diomande isn’t going anywhere next season. Speaking to German newspaper Bild, he made it clear: “Our intention is for Yan Diomande to play for RB Leipzig next year. We’re not backing down from that because we know what he brings.”
Schafer also mentioned that while Diomande may move on eventually, “if he keeps performing like this, the time will come to take the next step—but not this year.”
So, for now, Leipzig are holding strong, and Diomande’s future remains an exciting story to watch!
