Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is now personally leading the effort to sign the £100 million England star.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is personally driving the effort to sign a big new player after their Premier League win.
Arteta led Arsenal to the Premier League title on Sunday, ending a 22-year wait after finishing second for three seasons in a row. Now, he’s aiming to bring them Champions League success when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the final this Saturday in Budapest.
But Arteta is already planning ahead for next season and wants to bring in Aston Villa and England star Morgan Rogers. According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Arteta is leading the chase for Rogers, who scored in Villa’s recent Europa League win over Freiburg.
Rogers had a great season with 10 goals and 7 assists in 37 Premier League games, helping Villa finish fourth and secure a Champions League spot. His impressive form earned him a spot in England’s World Cup squad, ahead of players like Cole Palmer and Phil Foden.
Arteta sees Rogers as a key player to boost his team’s attack and a sign that Arsenal won’t stop after just one title. Early talks have reportedly happened with Rogers’ team, but Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested.
Rogers is Villa’s star player and could be worth around £80 million, but with many clubs interested, the fee might reach £100 million – matching Villa’s record sale of Jack Grealish in 2022. PSG, Arsenal’s upcoming Champions League rivals, also like Rogers. The 23-year-old is open to moving abroad, inspired by players like Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford thriving in Europe.
Rogers can play in several positions, either in the center or on the wings. If he joins Arsenal, it might mean that Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard move on.
Rogers didn’t play in Villa’s final game against Manchester City but is set to join England’s training camp in South Florida for his first World Cup. England will face New Zealand and Costa Rica in friendlies before their Group L opener against Croatia on June 17. The Three Lions will also play Ghana and Panama in upcoming matches in the US.
