Bayern Munich are willing to pay Man Utd’s price for Marcus Rashford, but there’s a small hiccup.

Bayern Munich are ready to meet Manchester United’s price for Marcus Rashford this summer as they look to boost their attack, but his salary is still causing some problems.
Rashford’s future is still up in the air ahead of this summer’s World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico. The England star joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester United last summer and played regularly for the La Liga champions, scoring 14 goals and making 14 assists in all competitions.
After a strong season, it seemed like a permanent move to Barcelona might happen. But the situation has changed since Barcelona signed Anthony Gordon, who also plays on the left wing.
Besides Gordon, Barcelona is also thinking seriously about signing free agent Bernardo Silva, according to Spanish paper SPORT. That move could rule out a deal for Rashford.
Outside of Barcelona, several clubs are interested in Rashford. Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich are among them.
The Sun reports Bayern want to pay Manchester United’s £34.5 million asking price but Rashford’s wages, thought to be around £325,000 per week, are causing some issues. Also, Rashford wouldn’t be guaranteed a starting spot, with Luis Diaz being the preferred choice for most of the 2025-26 season under coach Vincent Kompany.
Along with Rashford, Bayern is linked to other left-wing players like Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli. Rashford would be the cheapest option transfer-wise, but his high wages would raise the overall cost.
Earlier this month, The i Paper said up to five clubs, including Premier League teams Newcastle United and Aston Villa, are watching Rashford’s situation closely.
If he moves to St James’ Park, Rashford would likely take over from Anthony Gordon. Rashford spent the later part of the 2024/25 season on loan at Villa, where Unai Emery is the coach.

Villa have qualified for the Champions League again—both by finishing fourth in the Premier League and by winning the Europa League.
When Rashford heard he made England’s World Cup squad, he thanked Emery for helping him get back to his best and earn his spot on the international team.
