Bryson DeChambeau has shared an exciting plan that could give him the best of both worlds in his golf career.
Since joining LIV Golf in 2022, he’s been suspended from the PGA Tour. While LIV Golf is his main focus, DeChambeau isn’t ready to walk away from the PGA Tour completely.
His contract with LIV ends after this season, which has led fans to wonder if he’ll stay, switch things up, or maybe even try content creation. There were worries about LIV Golf’s future, but an anonymous investor recently stepped in to keep the league alive.
DeChambeau was even invited to leave LIV and return to the PGA Tour, but he turned it down and stayed loyal to LIV during tough times. Now, with LIV looking more stable, the 32-year-old has made a bold suggestion he thinks could be great for golf.
In an interview with the New York Post, he said: “I’d love to see golf stadiums like the PGA Tour’s TPC Sawgrass, where teams have their own courses as stadiums. I also want to play on the PGA Tour sometimes. I don’t see it as one or the other — why not both? I think that’s what fans want. Everyone wants to see me play big Tour events and team golf wherever possible.”
While his idea sounds great, the PGA Tour quickly shut down the idea of merging. Brian Rolapp, the Tour’s boss, made it clear: “No merger, no talks. We’re focused on the PGA Tour.”
DeChambeau’s thoughts echo those of other top players who left PGA for LIV Golf, like two-time major winner Jon Rahm. Many pros chose multi-million dollar deals to join LIV, even with the league facing challenges, especially after the Saudi Public Investment Fund stopped funding it.
DeChambeau is also a big YouTube star with millions of subscribers and has said he wants to grow his audience there, which has made some fans wonder if he might retire soon. Still, in his interview, he reassured fans he’s completely confident about LIV Golf’s future.
