Bryson DeChambeau might be making a surprising move to focus full-time on creating YouTube videos as his contract with LIV Golf nears its end.

DeChambeau, a two-time major winner who joined LIV Golf in June 2022, has been the center of a lot of talk lately. After Rory McIlroy won his second Masters in a row, there were rumors that LIV Golf might be in big trouble, possibly losing funding from the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF).

However, LIV Golf’s CEO, Scott O’Neil, said this week that the tour is “funded through the season” and they are working hard to keep it going. He told TNT Sports, “You’re funded through the season, and then you work like crazy to build a business and find a plan to keep going.”

According to a recent article by The Athletic, DeChambeau and his team have already talked with other groups about options if he leaves LIV. It’s also been reported that the 32-year-old is interested in focusing mainly on making YouTube content while still playing the four major golf tournaments.

Right now, DeChambeau has over 2.6 million YouTube subscribers. His most popular video features a fun challenge with former U.S. President Donald Trump, called ‘can I break 50’.

So, what would happen if Bryson switched completely to YouTube? Dan Rapaport, who hosts the popular podcast Dan on Golf, thinks Bryson is the only golfer who could make it work without hurting his game.

“He would be the first to do this,” Rapaport said. “Most golfers believe you need to play a lot before a major to stay sharp. But Bryson is special. He gets his competitive energy from playing on YouTube. Other players need to feel that on the last hole of a tournament, but he feels it going for a low score with Tony Romo’s help.”

DeChambeau says talks about his LIV Golf contract are still happening, and he’s hopeful they can reach a deal. “We’re still working on a contract,” he told Flushing It Golf. “I haven’t given up. My job right now is to help make the league work after this year because I feel responsible. I’ve put a lot of effort into it, so I want to help make it succeed. If LIV Golf is still around, I’ll find a way to make it work.”
