Bryson DeChambeau shares his surprising plans if LIV Golf falls apart
The future of LIV Golf after the 2026 season is unclear, and many players involved in this breakaway league are making backup plans. Bryson DeChambeau, a big name who won the US Open in 2020 and 2024 and is a Ryder Cup star, has already said he won’t return to the PGA Tour if LIV Golf ends.
The Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), which has put in over $5 billion since LIV Golf started in 2022, will stop funding the league after this season. LIV Golf is reportedly talking with new global investors, but many people think the league might not survive after the PIF pulls out.
Players are often asked if they’d go back to the PGA Tour if LIV Golf falls apart. Belgium’s Thomas Pieters says he’s done with the PGA Tour, and Spain’s Jon Rahm plans to take part in DP World Tour events during the rest of the team golf season.
DeChambeau, who is one of the younger LIV Golf players and leads the Crushers GC team (with Paul Casey, Charles Howell III, and Anirban Lahiri), has made his own plans for life after LIV. The PGA Tour doesn’t fit into them at all.
He told reporters at the Trump National outside Washington, D.C., where LIV Golf’s 2026 season reaches its halfway point this weekend, “I’d love to grow my YouTube channel three times, or even more. I want to make videos in different languages, so more people around the world can watch. And I want to play in tournaments that want me.”
Going back to the PGA Tour doesn’t seem interesting to DeChambeau. He’s no longer involved in any legal battles with the tour but could face penalties if he returns.
Still, the 32-year-old said that everyone should put aside their egos to help bring pro golf back together if LIV Golf does end. “Everyone needs to come in with a team mindset to grow golf. That’s why I joined LIV Golf, and why I work hard on my YouTube channel.”
DeChambeau already has nearly 2.7 million YouTube subscribers, with videos that often get millions of views thanks to celebrity guests and fun golf challenges.
