Newcastle might lose out on a transfer as other Premier League teams ‘could pay the asking price’ for the World Cup star.

Newcastle United have reportedly turned down an offer of around £80 million for Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali. According to BBC Sport, Tottenham Hotspur, managed by fellow Italian Roberto De Zerbi, are keen to bring Tonali into their midfield.

Journalists Sami Mokbel and Ciaran Kelly say Newcastle want a higher price for the 26-year-old, who is also linked with Arsenal and Manchester City.

While clubs are showing interest in Tonali, a Spanish report suggests Aston Villa is among the teams looking at another Newcastle young player.

The website AS says Newcastle might let striker Nick Woltemade go after just one season if they receive a £56 million offer. Francisco Diaz explains that Woltemade’s first season hasn’t gone as planned, and rumors say he might leave during this transfer window. Atletico Madrid is watching closely, and many think he will leave Newcastle. The club is reportedly asking for €65 million for the striker, but a loan could also be possible since Woltemade is still searching for consistent goals and form. He started well but played less as the season went on. Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund are also interested.

Woltemade joined Newcastle from Stuttgart last summer for a club-record fee and scored eight goals in 33 Premier League games. He’s currently playing with Germany at the World Cup but didn’t play in their wins against Curacao and Ivory Coast.

Eddie Howe’s Magpies qualified for the Champions League next season, winning their first major trophy in 70 years. However, last season was tough—they finished in the bottom half of the Premier League and missed out on European football by four points.

Winger Anthony Gordon has already been sold to Barcelona for a big fee, and with the recent sale of Alexander Isak to Liverpool, Newcastle could make more moves to prepare for a strong European challenge in 2026-27.

Spurs’ interest in Tonali isn’t their first since De Zerbi took charge. They recently spent a lot on Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke and signed Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson on free transfers after they left Bournemouth and Liverpool.
