Carlos Alcaraz says he can’t play at Wimbledon because of a wrist injury.

Carlos Alcaraz has shared an update about whether he’ll be playing at Wimbledon this year as he recovers from a wrist injury.

He got hurt during the Barcelona Open, which forced him to stop playing. Since then, he’s been out for over a month. Because of this injury, Alcaraz had to skip several tournaments, including his home event, the Madrid Open, for the second year in a row, and the important French Open at Roland Garros.

With Wimbledon coming up in June, many fans have been wondering when he might return to the court. At first, people thought he would be ready to play in the grass-court season, maybe even at the Queen’s Club tournament just before Wimbledon.

But now, Alcaraz has shared on Instagram that he unfortunately has to miss both Queen’s and Wimbledon. He said, “My recovery is going well and I’m feeling much better, but I’m still not ready to compete, so I have to withdraw from the grass-court tournaments at Queen’s and Wimbledon. These are very special events for me, and I’ll really miss them. We’ll keep working so I can come back as soon as possible.”

Last year, Alcaraz was the two-time defending champion at Wimbledon but lost in the final to his rival, Jannik Sinner. This year, he had hoped to get back to his great form after winning his first Australian Open title and becoming the youngest man to complete a career Grand Slam.

Instead, he’ll fall behind in the race for the world number one spot, which Sinner took last month. Since then, Sinner has been on fire, winning the last six Masters 1,000 tournaments and extending his winning streak to 34 straight ATP Masters matches.
