Fans were saying the same thing about Christos Tzolis during the Coventry game when they made the comparison.

Christos Tzolis has quickly caught the eye of Arsenal fans, with many comparing him to former Gunner Alexis Sanchez after a brilliant performance against newly-promoted Coventry.
The 24-year-old joined Arsenal from Belgian club Club Brugge in July for £34 million and immediately made a mark by setting up two goals in the Community Shield last weekend.
Given a start against Coventry on Friday, Tzolis didn’t disappoint. He helped set up Bukayo Saka’s goal in the 23rd minute with some fantastic wing play, showing why manager Mikel Arteta trusted him.
Fans have been full of praise for the versatile winger, who has now scored or assisted in 21 of his last 22 club games. Many even say he reminds them of Alexis Sanchez, noting their similar style, running, and build. One fan said, “Tzolis is like a young Alexis Sánchez – explosive, fearless, and always ready to take on defenders. He looks like a nightmare for Premier League defenders.”
Others agreed, with comments like, “Tzolis gives Alexis Sanchez vibes,” and “What a debut! He really reminds me of Sanchez.” Some also compared him to Marc Overmars, saying he’s a perfect mix of both players.
Tzolis was brought in to replace Leandro Trossard, who was a key player during Arsenal’s Premier League-winning season in 2025-26. But so far, Tzolis has impressed Arteta, who doesn’t get easily impressed. After the Community Shield win against Manchester City, Arteta praised him:
“He has adapted to the team quickly and naturally. He makes smart decisions when others might rush and make mistakes. He’s very accurate and intelligent. Today he made the right choices twice in tight spots, and we scored both times.
“To play so well this early in the season and show that kind of desire was really impressive. I told the players I really enjoyed watching them play.”
