Harry Kane missed out on a unanimous Ballon d’Or vote because two countries voted differently, full results now shared.

Fans from two countries didn’t include Harry Kane in their top 10 picks for the 2026 Ballon d’Or. Kane made history by becoming the fifth English player to win the award, and the first since Michael Owen in 2001, beating stars like Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal on Monday (October 26).

The race was super close! L’Équipe shared all the voting results on Friday (October 30). Kane scored 1,055 points, just edging out Mbappé’s 1,027 and Yamal’s 881. Rodri came in fourth with 726 points, and Lionel Messi, an eight-time winner, was fifth with 612 points.

The voters are from the top 100 FIFA-ranked countries, each picking their top 10 players. Kane was the first choice for 40 countries, while Mbappé got 23 first-place votes and Yamal had 13.

Only Mexico and Ivory Coast didn’t put Kane in their top 10 at all. Mbappé was left out of the top 10 by Greece, Scotland, and Ukraine. Yamal wasn’t chosen by Belarus, Cameroon, Croatia, and Greece.

Rodri, Kane’s Spain teammate who won the award in 2024, got 10 first-place votes from countries like Nigeria, the USA, and South Korea. Another Spanish player, Fabián Ruiz, was voted number one by Gabon, Peru, Syria, and Ukraine.

Messi was the top pick in six countries, including Brazil and Argentina. Bayern Munich and France winger Michael Olise even earned a first-place vote from Curaçao.
