“I’m ready to fight!” – Anthony Joshua talks about who he might fight next as he gets ready to face Tyson Fury.
Anthony Joshua says he’s ready to fight anyone who steps up as he prepares to take on Tyson Fury in an exciting match later this year.
The former two-time world champion hasn’t been in the ring since a sad car accident in January, where he lost two close friends. Before that, he beat Jake Paul in a big heavyweight fight last December, bouncing back after his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
Joshua has faced tough times before and still believes in himself as he looks ahead to the possible fight with Fury. At 36, he’s set to fight Kristin Prenga next month to get ready for the big British showdown. Even after losing to Dubois, Joshua feels confident he can take on anyone.
That includes Fabio Wardley, who lost to Dubois earlier this year and wants a rematch after losing his WBO heavyweight title.
“I want to fight everyone, and that’s why I’m still doing this,” Joshua told Ring Magazine. “I have lots of room to improve, and this is who I really am as a fighter. I love it, I’m passionate about it. It’s tough, for sure. I got knocked out by Dubois, but I’m still here, and I showed I can fight. I’m going to give it my all again.”
When asked if he still wants to become a three-time world champion or if he’s only focused on Fury, he said: “I’ll fight Fabio, I’ll fight anyone. That’s what we do. I don’t avoid anyone. My mind is in a different place from those who say ‘I don’t want to fight.’ This is my job. Bring it on.”
Whether the big fight with Fury happens depends on Joshua beating Prenga next month. Fury plans to fight in early August. If both win, the British heavyweights could finally face off this winter. Promoter Eddie Hearn is hopeful the fight will happen in November.
“No date is set yet, but we’re aiming for November,” Hearn told Sky Sports. “You can pick a Saturday then. Maybe the middle of November. But first, we have to get through Prenga and Fury’s fights, which look like they will be on August 1.”
He added, “The fight can happen in any weather — even snow — as long as it happens.”
