Liverpool set a price for Curtis Jones after Inter Milan made a frustrating low offer.
Liverpool aren’t happy with Inter Milan after their second offer for Curtis Jones came in way below what they’re asking for. The Premier League transfer window has just opened, and Liverpool are already busy working on some big moves this summer.
They made their first signing under new manager Andoni Iraola by paying €40 million (£34.5m) to sign Osasuna forward Víctor Muñoz, beating Newcastle United to the young winger. At the same time, Liverpool are still chasing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after their first offer of up to €100 million (£86m) was turned down.
It’s not just about new players coming in—some players are expected to leave, including local boy Curtis Jones. He got frustrated during the 2025/26 season and had a falling out with former manager Arne Slot. There were lots of rumors about him moving, and Inter Milan in Serie A seem very interested.
Inter made their first official offer for Jones at €20 million (£17.3m), but Liverpool rejected it right away. Just a few days later, Inter reportedly came back with a second bid of €25 million (£21.6m). Liverpool quickly turned that down too, with The Times reporter Paul Joyce saying the club were “irritated” by the low offer. Liverpool values Jones closer to £35 million.
While Liverpool are open to the idea of letting Jones leave, the club’s top bosses don’t want to look weak in talks, especially considering how much other midfielders are worth these days. Also, selling Jones for just £21 million wouldn’t give Liverpool enough money to find a similar quality player.
Some reports say Liverpool aren’t in a rush to sell Jones and might wait until pre-season to decide, depending on what Iraola thinks. If both Iraola and Jones want to keep working together, they could even talk about a new contract before Jones’ current deal runs out in 2027. But that’s something for later. Right now, there are no talks about extending his contract because the club and player still have different ideas about the terms.
Jones played 49 times for Liverpool in all competitions, scoring three goals and helping set up three more.
