Martin Brundle’s funny moment with Lewis Capaldi before the British GP goes viral after he confused him with his brother.
Martin Brundle’s chat with Lewis Capaldi on the British Grand Prix grid got everyone smiling — especially since last season, he hilariously mixed up Lewis with his brother!
Before the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, Brundle ran into the Capaldi brothers and thought he was talking to Lewis, but it was actually Anthony wearing a cap. “I’m sorry!” Brundle said, “They told me he had a cap on.”
At the end of that interview, Lewis reached out for a handshake, but Brundle missed it because he was focused on the drivers gathering for the national anthem.
Fast forward to Silverstone, and Brundle was walking the grid again looking for interviews when Lewis waved him over. This time, Brundle noticed and shook his hand. They had a friendly chat, and Brundle jokingly asked, “Where’s your brother? Is he around somewhere?”
“He’s here somewhere,” Lewis replied. “He’s obsessed — loves it.”
Brundle also asked Lewis about a flying lap he did with driver Lando Norris. Lewis said, “It was one of the most nerve-wracking things I’ve ever done! Glad they didn’t film me from the waist down!”
They ended the interview with a second hug. Brundle joked, “I’m not great at man-hugs, but I think that one was good.”

After Singapore, Brundle apologized on Twitter (X) for missing Lewis’s handshake. “Sorry, Lewis! I was focused on the camera and the national anthem countdown. Didn’t realize you were trying to shake my hand — a big miss from me. Hope I can make it right one day. And hope you enjoyed F1!”
