PSG president gives an update on Luis Enrique’s contract as the Liverpool job opens up after Arne Slot’s exit

Luis Enrique led PSG to win back-to-back Champions League titles by beating Arsenal in Saturday’s final. His contract runs until the summer of 2027, but there’s already talk about him possibly moving to some top jobs in England. The latest link is with Liverpool, after they recently parted ways with Arne Slot.
Just hours before the Champions League final, Liverpool decided to sack Slot. The Dutch coach had a tough season after a great first year when he won the Premier League. This time, Liverpool finished fifth and didn’t win any trophies.
Now, Liverpool are searching for a new manager. The front-runner is former Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola, but some believe Enrique could be the next to take charge at Anfield.
Enrique has now won his third Champions League as a manager, joining famous names like Pep Guardiola, Bob Paisley, and Zinedine Zidane — all tied as the second most successful coaches in the competition. The only one ahead is Carlo Ancelotti, who has five titles.
Liverpool might think about trying to bring Enrique to Anfield after Slot’s exit on Saturday.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi praised Enrique highly, which probably caught Liverpool’s attention after the Champions League win. Speaking to TNT Sports, he said, “He’s very, very special. As a coach and a person, he’s fantastic. He’s the best coach in the world. He has done amazing with the team. With such a young squad, it’s an incredible story. I also want to thank the PSG players — this win is for them too. They all gave their all to this project.”
When asked about Enrique’s future at PSG, Al-Khelaifi didn’t give a clear answer, which might give Liverpool fans some hope. He said, “He’s the best coach. I can’t say what will happen, but I’m confident it’s all about the project. And he’s the best one for the project.”
