England came away with a 2-0 win over Panama, finishing top of Group L in the World Cup. While the Three Lions’ performance wasn’t their best, Thomas Tuchel will be glad they got the job done and secured first place in the group.

Next up for England is DR Congo in the round of 32, after the African team won 2-1 against Uzbekistan to finish third in their group.

However, Tuchel has some worries, especially about the right back position. Jarell Quansah had to leave the game with an ankle injury around the 60-minute mark. Tuchel shared what happened: “It was a classic ankle twist, and he’s in pain. He said he had a similar injury before, and it’s been a few days. He hopes it doesn’t get worse, but right now it’s too painful, so he’s keeping his leg up with ice and compression.”

England’s right back spot is in trouble since Reece James is already out with a hamstring injury and likely won’t be ready for the next match either. When asked if he was worried about this injury crisis, Tuchel said, “Of course, another injury in that position is tough. It will be a close call for both Reece and Jarell, so I’m concerned about them. But it’s our job to find solutions, and we’ll do that in the next four days.”

If both players can’t go against DR Congo, Djed Spence, who came on for Quansah against Panama and played really well, looks like a strong option to step in.
