US Open men’s finalists are competing for an extra $2.7 million, the biggest winner’s prize ever in tennis!

Ben Shelton and Alexander Zverev will face each other in the US Open final on Sunday, both aiming to win their very first Grand Slam trophy. If Shelton wins, it will be his first-ever Grand Slam title, while Zverev is hoping to add a second to his collection after winning the French Open earlier this year.
Whichever player lifts the trophy will make history by earning the biggest prize money ever in tennis.
Both Shelton and Zverev are eager to add the US Open trophy to their prize shelves and become part of the tournament’s record books.
At the 2025 US Open, the total prize money was $90 million. The winners of the men’s and women’s singles each took home $5 million, while the runners-up earned $2.5 million.
The 2026 US Open is stepping it up with a record $108 million total prize pool—a 20% increase from last year. The champion will win $5.5 million, and the runner-up will get $2.8 million.
That means Shelton and Zverev will share a total of $8.3 million, along with Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka. Rybakina gets the bigger share because she won her first US Open title.
The winner between Shelton and Zverev will take home $2.7 million more than the runner-up. While they’re playing for the US Open title itself, the big prize money is definitely something they’ll know about.
The US Open offers the biggest prize pot in tennis right now, with the winner guaranteed $5.5 million—more than any other Grand Slam.
Wimbledon comes next, with $87 million in total prize money. Its 2026 winner, Jannik Sinner, took home $4.9 million.
Carlos Alcaraz won $3 million at this year’s Australian Open, which had a total prize pool of $80 million.
The French Open offers the smallest prize pool at $72 million, with Zverev earning $3.3 million for his win there.
