David Haye gets ready for a legal fight after the I’m A Celeb drama

David Haye is reportedly planning to sue ITV for £10 million after his controversial time on I’m a Celebrity… South Africa. The 45-year-old former boxer caused a stir with some of his comments on the show, including saying that “ugly girls” need to have better personalities to get noticed. He even stood by this idea during an appearance on This Morning, saying, “If you put a hundred beautiful girls and a hundred ugly girls in the dark, the ugly ones will have better personalities because they had to develop them.”

Haye also got involved in a row with fellow contestant and Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas, 37. The former heavyweight champ questioned whether Thomas deserved to win after a heated argument with ex-footballer Jimmy Bullard. Thomas later shared that Haye told him he “just wanted to break” him on the show but also said he “had never met a nicer guy.” Thomas said, “If that’s not bullying, I don’t know what is. I didn’t want to call anyone a bully, but what happened to me was bullying. So I want to tell anyone being bullied: no matter what anyone says, if you know how you feel, speak up – because if you don’t, it just keeps going.”

On April 29, The Sun reported that both Haye and Bullard feel the show was unfairly edited. Haye is said to be taking legal action against ITV, claiming the show damaged his reputation. A source told The Sun, “David is furious about how the series was handled and feels he’s being made the scapegoat. He believes the editing made him look like a nasty, aggressive bully, which he says he is not. He’s faced online trolling and can point to scenes like the Gemma Collins ‘fat-shaming’ moment, where clever editing made his words look worse than they were. His lawyers are carefully reviewing the show and plan to claim up to £10 million in damages to make up for lost earnings because of what they call ‘propaganda’ against him.”
