As AC Milan gets ready to kick off their Europa League run at home against Benfica, the Italian media have shared their thoughts on Amorim.
In their latest Serie A match, Milan came back from a tough first half against Lazio, where they were 2-0 down, to draw 2-2 thanks to two quick goals from Diego Moreira in the second half.
The Italian press has started to evaluate Amorim and his tactics, which is a big focus in Southern Europe. Corriere dello Sport praised his team and style, saying they showed a strong, dominant game at times against Lazio.
Corriere della Sera, on the other hand, thinks Amorim still needs to fine-tune his tactics and figure out how he wants to play and which players are his best choices. They noted the poor first half against Lazio but also the team’s improved performance after halftime. They also pointed out that Moreira’s position on the left was much better since that’s his stronger foot. The report said Amorim needs to be clearer about Milan’s identity and stop experimenting so much, or else the team’s adjustment period will be longer.
Gazzetta dello Sport raised the question of whether Amorim is a tactical genius, since he has made some smart substitutions, or if he needs to pick a better starting lineup. They said relying too much on changes in the second half might not work in the long run, and that could explain some puzzling starting eleven choices.
A bit of background: Amorim joined Manchester United in November 2024 but left in January 2026, only having one full preseason with them. After some new signings in the summer of 2025 to support his style, things didn’t click, and he was sacked halfway through that season.
