Here’s a friendly look at the stats for midfielders Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Alex Scott — and it’s pretty clear who stands out.

All three are drawing attention this summer, with big clubs interested in the Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth stars. Anderson has caught the eye of Manchester City and Manchester United and is part of England’s 26-man World Cup squad. Scott is training with the squad ahead of the tournament, while Wharton is in the 55-man provisional squad and could be called up if there’s an injury before England’s first match.

So, who shines brightest when we compare their Premier League numbers from 2025/26? Let’s dive in:

Using Squawka’s Comparison Matrix, we looked at their attacking, passing, and defensive stats.

In attack, Anderson leads with more goals and assists per 90 minutes than Scott, and he’s level with Wharton on assists. He also makes way more forward passes (21.9) than Scott (11.2) and Wharton (15.9). Wharton, though, leads in chances created per 90 minutes with 1.6, just edging out Anderson’s 1.5.

When it comes to passing, Anderson tops the chart again with more passes attempted, better accuracy, and stronger long passes. Wharton stands out with more attempted through balls (0.8) compared to Anderson and Scott (0.3 each). Still, Anderson takes the overall win across these stats.

The biggest differences show up in defense. Anderson completes more take-ons (1.4) than Scott (1) and Wharton (0.6), and wins far more ground duels (6.3 vs. 4.7 and 4.1). He also matches Scott for interceptions won and recovers more balls (8.3) than both. The only minor downside: Scott just edges him in take-on success rate.

All in all, Anderson’s well-rounded numbers make him the top pick for clubs this summer. Nottingham Forest reportedly value him at £115 million, so only the wealthiest clubs can make a move.

Who would you pick for your team — Anderson, Scott, or Wharton? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
