Jamie Vardy lands exciting new deal for a surprising project to compete with Mark Goldbridge
Jamie Vardy has just landed an exciting new deal that takes his career in a surprising direction. While he’s no longer playing in the Premier League, Vardy is still one of the biggest names in English football.
The former Leicester City striker is currently a free agent and has been linked with several clubs, including Brazil’s Sao Paulo and a possible amazing return to Sheffield Wednesday. Last season, he played for Cremonese in Serie A, appearing 29 times, scoring seven goals, and helping with three assists.
But instead of focusing only on signing with a new club, Vardy has teamed up for an exciting new venture in broadcasting. He has secured a big deal to become a Bundesliga rights holder, meaning his YouTube channel, “Jamie Vardy’s Having a Party,” will show seven live Bundesliga games this season for free. The matches will air on Friday nights, starting with the season opener between Bayern Munich and Stuttgart on August 28.
The deal is through Banijay Entertainment, the production company behind his channel, which signed a one-year contract with the Bundesliga. Vardy joins YouTube shows like The Overlap and That’s Football, hosted by Mark Goldbridge, as UK broadcasters of Bundesliga’s Friday night games. From the 2026-27 season, The Overlap won’t show live games, making Goldbridge the main Bundesliga content creator after acquiring another viral YouTube channel. Vardy will then take over as the league’s second content creator.
A source told The Sun: “This is a big step for Jamie as he grows in broadcasting while still playing football. He’s really excited to connect with Bundesliga fans and chat with star guests about the games. He wants to build a real community with his podcast and loves diving deep into the sport.”
There will be several guests on the live shows, including Vardy’s wife, Rebekah.
Since Vardy is a free agent, he doesn’t have to rush to meet the summer transfer deadline on September 1. A return to Sheffield Wednesday would be an exciting move, especially since it could mean facing his old club, Leicester City, in League One.
Wednesday chairman David Storch said on the talkSPORT Show: “At some point, I’ll be able to tell a story about this. Maybe now isn’t the right time, but Jamie is definitely someone we’d love at our club. We’d be thrilled to have him. Unfortunately, there are some restrictions we’re working to get around to make something possible that works for Jamie.”
If a move to Sheffield Wednesday doesn’t happen, West Ham United might be another option. The Irons have shown interest in signing him after their drop to the Championship.
