Lewis Hamilton’s special treatment at Ferrari uncovered, while Leclerc is left out
Lewis Hamilton recently shared that his Ferrari contract lets him enjoy a fun perk that Charles Leclerc isn’t allowed to have. Hamilton hopes to tick off some of his Formula 1 dreams while driving for Ferrari.
Ferrari doesn’t have just one clear top driver right now—they have two star drivers and aren’t sure who to back fully. Charles Leclerc has been with Ferrari since 2019, coming up through their academy and becoming their main driver. But when Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, joined the team, things shifted. Now, as Hamilton goes for his eighth F1 title, Ferrari seems ready to place their bets on him—unless he goes overboard with his stunts while Leclerc watches.
Before the Austrian Grand Prix, Hamilton told Ferrari fans how much he loves the Red Bull Ring track. He even joked about wanting to skydive right onto the track someday, which caught Leclerc’s attention.
“I’d really love to skydive here. It’s such a beautiful place,” said Hamilton. “I’d love to skydive into the track one day—that’s something I want to do.”
But Leclerc would only get to watch because his contract doesn’t allow skydiving antics like that.
“Wait, does Ferrari allow you to do that?” Leclerc asked. Hamilton laughed and said, “Yeah.”
Leclerc joked, “They don’t allow me! Maybe they don’t trust me with a parachute.”
Leclerc has built a bit of a wild reputation this season, especially after a crash at his home race in Monaco. He blamed the brakes and loss of traction for spinning off the track. After the race, he was honest about his mistakes but also pointed out problems with the car’s braking.
Ferrari has been cautious with Leclerc, and they were surprised by his comments, especially since Hamilton finished strong in that race.
It seems Ferrari wants to keep Leclerc safe and grounded, while Hamilton’s known for being both brave and careful, always finding the right balance to keep his car on track.
