Liverpool have a plan ready after their €100 million (£86.7m) bid for RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande was turned down. Diomande, who had the most successful dribbles in the Bundesliga last season, has become a key target for Liverpool as they look to boost their attack before the new season starts.

Many clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, are interested in the 19-year-old, but it seems Liverpool are leading the race to sign one of football’s top young talents. In fact, The Athletic reports that Liverpool are “firmly in the driving seat.”

However, on Thursday, it was revealed that RB Leipzig rejected Liverpool’s €100 million (£86.7m) offer, according to Fabrizio Romano. Leipzig want more for their star player—likely around €120 million (£104.1m)—to seal the deal this summer.

Liverpool plan to come back with a better offer “very soon,” says Florian Plettenberg. He also mentions that personal terms with Diomande shouldn’t be a problem if Liverpool and Leipzig reach an agreement.

Earlier this week, Liverpool surprised Newcastle United by signing Osasuna winger Victor Munoz, triggering his £34.6 million release clause. The 22-year-old, who played for Barcelona and Real Madrid youth teams, is now part of Spain’s World Cup squad. Liverpool have reportedly sent medical staff to the US to complete his medical.

Besides Diomande, Liverpool are also keeping an eye on Koln’s Said El Mala, Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, and Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo. El Mala scored 13 goals and made five assists in 36 Bundesliga games last season and is under contract until 2030. Minteh has scored 10 goals and assisted nine times in 73 appearances for Brighton and has Premier League experience. Fernandez-Pardo has impressed in Ligue 1 since joining Lille from Belgium’s Gent in 2024, with 12 goals and 11 assists in 71 games for the French team.

Liverpool clearly have exciting plans ahead to strengthen their squad!
