Liverpool hit hard as Yan Diomande makes his final choice on summer move
Yan Diomande has decided which club he wants to join this summer, and it’s not great news for Liverpool fans.
Even though most leagues in Europe are still closed, the Premier League’s summer transfer window officially opened on Monday, June 15. Some clubs are already working hard to make new signings before pre-season starts.
Liverpool has been very busy, surprising everyone by signing Spain’s Victor after paying Osasuna’s €40 million (£34.6m) release clause. Now, they’re trying to bring in another forward, with RB Leipzig’s Diomande as their top target.
Liverpool’s first bid of €100 million (£86.2m) was rejected, but they were preparing a second offer because Diomande seemed keen on moving to Anfield.
However, recent news from David Ornstein says that 19-year-old Diomande has chosen Paris Saint-Germain instead, if he leaves RB Leipzig this summer. He’s excited about PSG’s project under chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi and football advisor Luis Campos. Diomande also wants to play for coach Luis Enrique.
The young player is eager to compete for trophies regularly and dreams of winning the Ballon d’Or. He believes Paris gives him a better chance to reach those goals.
Now, it looks like Diomande’s team will focus on completing a transfer to PSG in the next few weeks.
Interestingly, Ben Jacobs reports that Liverpool hasn’t been told directly by Diomande or his team that he’s not interested, and Liverpool has made good progress on their side of the deal. But sources close to Diomande have made it clear that he wants to play under Enrique.
If Liverpool miss out on Diomande, they’re ready with a list of other players to consider this summer.
One name likely at the top is Bradley Barcola, who has recently been linked with leaving PSG. Although PSG hasn’t been open to selling him, Diomande’s arrival might change that.
Other clubs like Arsenal are also interested in Barcola, so Liverpool won’t be alone if he becomes available.
Liverpool’s other targets reportedly include Said El Mala from FC Köln, Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Lille, and Yankuba Minteh from Brighton. Whether any of these moves will happen remains to be seen.
Stay tuned to see how this summer’s transfer window unfolds!
