Last year, Liverpool spent more than £400 million, but after a tough season, Arne Slot’s team needs another big rebuild. The Dutch coach has been holding onto his job as fans grow restless.

With Xabi Alonso moving to Chelsea, Slot looks set to get the chance to improve the team this transfer window and will have money to spend again. Liverpool already have one new player coming from France who’s been ready for almost a year. Now, Slot is aiming to sign two more players from a French club in what could be a smart double deal.

Since club legend Mohamed Salah has left a big gap on the right side of Liverpool’s attack, the team has been searching for the right replacement to fit Slot’s style. Top of the list is Maghnes Akliouche, who has 39 goal contributions in 109 games and is valued at about £50 million.

Akliouche would compete for a starting spot with Jeremy Frimpong, who has been filling in since Salah left, and Harvey Elliott, who is back after a tough loan at Aston Villa. According to TeamTalk journalist Graeme Bailey, Liverpool are ahead of rivals Manchester United in trying to sign this player. United want to support Mbuemo, who plays both wide right and centre forward.

Liverpool also want to change things in midfield. Local player Curtis Jones is thinking about a move to Italy, which could open the door for Monaco’s Lamine Camara. The 22-year-old Senegalese star has done well since joining Monaco from Metz last season, playing 71 games. The two Monaco players want bigger moves after their team missed out on the Champions League, and the combined price of £92 million should be affordable for Slot to keep spending.

Liverpool’s summer signings probably won’t stop there. The club might look for another right-back, with Denzel Dumfries as the main target, especially since Liverpool already have several Dutch players. They’ll also need someone to cover for Andy Robertson.

This summer, Slot’s transfers might be smarter and less flashy than last year’s big splurges on players like Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitike, as the budget might call for more careful choices.
